Mackenzie Dern defended her strawweight title (up to 52,2 kg) for the first time against Gillian Robertson at UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15) in Philadelphia (USA). The Brazilian won by judges' decision and confirmed her stay at the top of the category.
After the event, at the press conference, Mackenzie assessed her performance and highlighted her improvement in wrestling. The champion admitted that she had hoped to achieve an even more decisive result against the Canadian.

“I’m someone who is always striving for the best possible performance. I’m happy with my wrestling. I’m happy with the dominance I had in the fight. But, for sure, I wanted to finish Gillian. There are many aspects I want to improve. I want to be able to defend the title more and more times. But, without a doubt, I feel I have consolidated myself as champion,” said Mackenzie Dern.
The Brazilian managed to use her takedown game to control Robertson at different points in the fight. Although she didn't find the submission, an objective that is part of her style, Mackenzie showed improvement in an area considered important to enhance her main strength: jiu-jitsu.
