Islam Makhachev had his arm raised , but left UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15), quite bruised. In the main event, the Dagestani dominated Ian Machado Garry and defended the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg) for the first time. Despite the positive result, a detail in one of the Irishman's strikes bothered the champion quite a bit.
In a video posted on social media, Makhachev appeared talking to his team in the locker room after the fight. During the conversation, the Russian revealed that Ian Machado Garry 's thumb hit his eye during one of the high kicks thrown by the Irishman.
The blow caused the champion considerable pain, but it wasn't enough to take him out of the fight. Even bothered by the incident, Makhachev maintained control of the fight and secured the victory by unanimous decision.
