Lerryan Douglas suffered a serious injury in his loss at UFC Sacramento: 'He lost his sight'

It was definitely not a good weekend for Lerryan Douglas . The former LFA featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) left UFC Sacramento with a knockout loss to veteran Jamall Emmers in the first round, during the last fight of the preliminary card. Beyond the disappointment caused by the negative result, the Brazilian also suffered a serious eye injury, creating a very frightening moment for him.

According to Cub Swanson , Douglas's former fighter and head trainer, the right hook landed by Emmers caused a fracture in his orbital bone.

“ Lerryan Douglas suffered an orbital fracture and instantly lost vision in that eye. He is doing well and I am glad he did not suffer further damage. We will know more after he consults a specialist this week. Thank you for all the support,” he stated.

Lerryan Douglas expressed optimism about his return.

Hours later, the fighter himself addressed the situation publicly in a post on his Instagram. He confirmed Swanson's statement and said he would return soon.

“Last night wasn’t my night; I suffered a fracture in my orbit, but I’m okay! Thank you to my family, my team, and all my fans. I will learn from this, get back to work, and come back better. A special thank you to my true and loyal fans—thank you! I see you; all this support means so much to me. Much peace and love! See you soon. Very soon,” he declared.
