Last Saturday (22), Gregory Robocop starred in a real battle and achieved the biggest victory of his MMA career. In the main fight of UFC Sacramento, the Brazilian defeated Anthony Hernandez by unanimous decision and consolidated himself in seventh position in the middleweight ranking (up to 83,9 kg). However, the athlete found himself at the center of a controversy after suffering a serious accusation from the American and, as could not be otherwise, he sought to clarify the situation.

After the fight, Hernandez complained about the result and called his opponent a cheat and dirty. Upset, the American claimed that Robocop grabbed his gloves more than once and that referee Herb Dean even reprimanded him. During an appearance on 'The Ariel Helwani Show', the Brazilian countered 'Fluffy' and defended his victory, stating it was clean because he was clearly superior.

In the fight, the athlete punished his opponent with leg kicks, body shots, and denied his takedown attempts. Therefore, Robocop, proud of his performance, emphasizes that Hernandez needs to accept the tough defeat, however frustrated he may be.

“He can say whatever he wants. What secured my victory were the leg kicks and my punches. He couldn't take me down, he didn't do anything. He put on a lot of pressure, but I didn't cheat. He knows that. But everyone can say what they want. I'm still the same person,” he said.

“I have a lot of respect for him. I saw his family there, his son was praying in the front row. It’s crazy, but that’s the sport. I always tell my wife during my training that if I can bite the guy, I will bite him. I want to do everything. I’ll break my bones, but I’ll do whatever it takes. But I didn’t cheat in the fight.”

“We fought well, it was a battle. Everyone saw it. We were trying to finish each other off at every moment, in every round. If there had been something clear, Herb Dean would probably have said something or everyone would have seen it. Sometimes, involuntarily, my hands would have gripped his gloves, but it didn't change the outcome of the fight.”

“I have a lot of respect for him. I know he’s a warrior, a tough guy, but the result we saw, the score I saw, the fight, I beat him. That’s the fact. I’m not offended and I’m not surprised. This isn’t going to change my life. I think it was once or twice that my hand got inside his glove. I took it out and that was it. It didn’t change anything,” he concluded.
