For those who didn't know, Alex Apodaca is now known. The athlete simply pulled off the biggest upset in the history of the Contender Series program this Tuesday (25). In the third episode of the show's tenth season, held in Las Vegas (USA), the American surprised the overwhelming favorite Bella Mir, daughter of the legendary Frank Mir and considered by many to be a phenomenon in combat sports, and won by unanimous decision. Because the fighter shocked the world, Dana White surrendered and signed her to the UFC.

Before the main event of the show even happened, Bella was already seen as the favorite, but her overwhelming favoritism (-6000) didn't translate into the octagon. The athlete, who competes in grappling, MMA, and wrestling, did show herself to be superior in the first round. Even at a disadvantage, Apodaca didn't despair and finished stronger. In the second round, the 'underdog', who promised to make history, began her comeback.

Calm and smiling, Alex frustrated Mir's game, avoided takedowns, and, more effective in striking, continued to hurt her face. The third and final round was similar. For the most part, the athlete showed herself superior with jabs and kicks. A warrior, Bella didn't give up and, in the final minutes, finished with an advantage, but couldn't capitalize. At the end of the 15 minutes of action, the underdog appeared in the Contender Series and ended the undefeated streak of the 23-year-old prospect. Now, Apodaca is part of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg) of the UFC.
