Colby Covington doesn't believe Carlos Prates has a chance of dethroning Islam Makhachev in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg) of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). After the Russian defeated Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 , the Fighting Nerds smoker, along with Michael Morales , became one of the fan favorites to try his luck for the belt. However, according to the outspoken American, the South American duo would be defeated by the champion.
In an interview with 'Submission Radio', Colby Covington assessed that Makhachev would have an advantage over Prates and Morales due to his wrestling and versatility within MMA. The American also stated that he no longer closely follows the division's movements and is not concerned about who might challenge the champion.

“I think Makhachev beats both guys (Prates and Morales) with his wrestling and because he’s a complete fighter. To be honest, I don’t pay attention to that. I don’t care anymore,” said Colby Covington.
