Without competing since 2023, the legendary Maurício Shogun returned to action in combat sports and is not thinking about retiring. Last Saturday (29), in São Paulo, the athlete faced Glover Teixeira in the main fight of Spaten Fight Night 3 and lost in boxing via unanimous decision. However, the veteran, like many, approved of the war in the ring and wants a new one.

Rematch! Glover Teixeira accepts challenge from UFC nemesis after punishing Mauricio Shogun at Spaten Fight Night 3.

So much so that, on his official Instagram account, Shogun challenged Glover to a rematch at the next edition of Spaten Fight Night , which hasn't even been announced yet. And the former Pride and UFC champion's intention is valid, as the clash of legends was one of the best fights of the year across all combat sports.

In that fight, Glover was indeed superior, punishing his opponent and coming very close to a knockout. However, Shogun didn't give up and, even in a delicate situation in the fight, shook his opponent. Therefore, upon regaining his fighting rhythm, the athlete believes he can do even better and, who knows, even the score in a possible rematch.

“Because a true warrior never gives up. Guys, I think the fairest thing would be a rematch between me and Glover at the next Spaten, because it was a great fight. You saw, I got knocked down in the second round and Glover was pretty groggy in the fifth round. So, guys, I think I deserve this rematch at the next Spaten Fight Night. So, Glover, are you up for another one?”, said the MMA legend.

Maurício Shogun , 44, is a legend in MMA. The Brazilian began his career in the sport in 2002 and made his mark, becoming champion of both Pride and the UFC.

In this sport, the athlete built a record of 27 wins, 14 losses, and one draw. His main victories were over Alistair Overeem (twice), Chuck Liddell, Corey Anderson , Forrest Griffin , Kevin Randleman, Lyoto Machida , Mark Coleman, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson , Ricardo Arona , and Rogério Minotouro (three times).
