Arman Tsarukyan has a plan that is, to say the least, ambitious before hanging up his gloves in the UFC. Scheduled to face Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 on September 19th, the 'Batman of MMA' is aiming for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) and intends, if he wins the title, to surpass Islam Makhachev 's record for title defenses . Furthermore, the Russian does not rule out moving up to welterweight (up to 77 kg) later on.
During an appearance on the Deep Waters program, Tsarukyan revealed that he intends to make at least five defenses of his lightweight title before considering a change of division or even retirement.

The highly anticipated duel between Mauricio Ruffy and Arman Tsarukyan , scheduled for UFC 331, pits two very different styles against each other in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). On one side, the Brazilian relies on efficiency and versatility on his feet; on the other, the Russian's main weapons are grappling pressure and wrestling.
Ruffy enters the fight backed by the precision of his strikes and his knockout record, with 13 knockout victories in his career and an average of 4,19 significant strikes landed per minute. Tsarukyan, on the other hand, averages 3,26 takedowns per fight and has more experience against the elite of the division.
