UFC Paris promises to be a fun event and features a main event of extreme importance for the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). In the event taking place this Saturday (5), veteran Dan Hooker will travel to France to face Salahdine Parnasse , one of the main promises of MMA and who is making his debut in the organization. The duel pits exciting professionals against each other and presents different narratives.
On one side, Hooker, 36, needs to win at all costs. Currently, the New Zealander is going through a bad patch, with two consecutive losses, and if he loses again, he will be in a delicate position within the company, despite his popularity. Despite his poor professional form, the veteran remains among the elite of the competitive category, in 12th place, and exudes confidence that he will turn things around.

On the other hand, 28-year-old Parnasse arrives at the UFC with great fanfare. The Frenchman made his mark in KSW, becoming champion in the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg) and the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), in addition to competing for the welterweight title (up to 77,1 kg), and gained fame by shining in the first MMA event held by Netflix in May. Now, the athlete arrives at the organization already headlining a show and is eager to justify the hype.
And for Parnasse, there's no better opportunity than this to make a strong entrance into the UFC, as he'll be fighting at home against a top-15 opponent. Furthermore, Hooker, despite years of experience in the octagon facing the lightweight elite, is seen by many as a limited fighter. Therefore, the Frenchman, due to his star status and being a well-rounded athlete, is considered by bookmakers to be the favorite to win.
As a striking specialist, Hooker needs to find a way to keep the fight standing and, above all, seek the knockout as soon as possible. Parnasse, on the other hand, has a good level of striking and can knock out the New Zealander. However, the easiest way for the Frenchman to have his arm raised and delight his fans at the Accor Arena and around the world is to take 'The Hangman' to the ground and secure the submission.
Hooker's task at UFC Paris is so complicated that a victory for him would shock the world, steal all the hype from the Frenchman, and change the way many people view him. Meanwhile, a possible triumph for Parnasse, especially with a good performance, would put him in the New Zealander's place in the lightweight rankings and send a message to the top fighters in the division that there is a new threat.
