Khamzat Chimaev , it seems, was not impacted by Umar Nurmagomedov 's defeat at UFC Shanghai . On that occasion, the Dagestani fighter was knocked out by Song Yadong while attempting a takedown, an outcome that made 'The Wolf' lament the result, but not rethink his fighting style.
In a statement to 'Red Corner', Chimaev stated that he does not intend to abandon his takedown approach, even at the risk of being surprised by a counter-attack. According to the fighter, the repetition of this technique in training justifies its use in the octagon.
"I train takedowns every day at the gym, so why wouldn't I do the same thing in the octagon?" said Khamzat Chimaev.

Chimaev also predicted a recovery for Umar Nurmagomedov and highlighted the experience his compatriot had accumulated since childhood.
“Unfortunately, Umar lost, but I believe he will come back stronger. He is a guy with vast experience and has been doing this since he was a child. Anything can happen in our sport,” Lobo concluded.
