Liga Monstro Combate held its third edition this Friday (25), at the RedeTV! studios in São Paulo, in a night marked by great fights, knockouts, submissions and unprecedented moments for the organization. In the main fight of the night, former UFC fighter Alex Cowboy extended his losing streak and was knocked out by Argentinian Juan Plano Varela in the first round. The result marked the Brazilian's fourth consecutive defeat.
Argentina gets the better of Cowboy
The duel pitted two experienced MMA athletes against each other. Alex “Cowboy” arrived at LMC after a distinguished career in the UFC, where he competed in 22 fights between 2015 and 2022. Juan Pablo “El León” Varela represented Argentina in the international confrontation and arrived at the event with experience competing in Peru, Russia, and the South American circuit.
From the very first moments, the Argentinian managed to impose his game. Varela took the fight to the ground and worked with ground and pound and elbows, keeping the Brazilian under pressure until the referee's stoppage at 4 minutes and 16 seconds.
The victory concluded the third edition of the LMC with another chapter in the sporting rivalry between Brazil and Argentina inside the cage.
A historic night for women.
