Norma Dumont started the fight from a southpaw stance and managed to neutralize Ailin Perez 's initial takedown attempts . The Brazilian maintained distance with kicks and sought to work from long range. However, when she attempted a front kick with about two minutes remaining in the first round, the Argentinian capitalized on the moment, took her opponent down, and began to control the action on the ground. Perez landed some good strikes and maintained her advantage until the end of the round.
In the second round, Ailin again attempted a takedown in the opening seconds, but Norma defended the attempt. Subsequently, the Brazilian managed to take the Argentinian down and began controlling the fight from top position. Maintaining her southpaw stance, Dumont used low kicks, feints, and combinations of strikes to find her range. With a higher volume of strikes, the Brazilian had her best moment in the fight and gained the upper hand in the second round.
Norma maintained her strategy in the third round and returned to working with kicks, alternating attacks and combinations of strikes. The Brazilian managed to control much of the beginning of the round and made it difficult for Ailin to get into the fight. With just over a minute to go, the Argentinian tried again to take the fight to the ground, but Norma defended the attack and kept the fight standing.
In the final stretch, the two fighters exchanged blows standing up, with Norma seeking to manage the advantage she had built in the round. Ailin, in turn, increased the pace in the final seconds and tried to change the course of the fight. After three rounds, the judges determined the result of the duel, with Ailin Perez winning by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
