Michael Bisping saves the English at UFC-120

The city of London, England, hosted the 16th edition of the UFC this Saturday (120). In the main event fight, the English Michael Bisping enjoyed the audience at the O2 Arena and defeated the Japanese Yoshihiro akiyama in the unanimous decision of the judges. In the other fights on the main card, the hosts suffered three defeats with Dan hardy, John Hathaway e James Wilks. In the last and decisive round, the Englishman once again controlled the duel until he hit Yoshihiro with a low blow. The Japanese used the five minutes of technical time and came back looking for the knockout, but already tired he couldn't land any big blows. In the end, victory Michael Bisping in the unanimous decision of the judges (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)



Carlos Condit surprises and knocks out Dan Hardy


With fights without much emotion on the main card, Dan Hardy and Carlos Condit they tried to change this story in the co-main event of the night. In a fight with a lot of movement, Condit was not intimidated by the English fighter's knockout power and went for a frank exchange of blows. After connecting with a cross in the counterattack, which led to Dan being knocked down, the North American fighter went to end the duel on the ground and with one more punch he knocked out Hardy at 4min27sec of the fight.

Mike pyle cancel John Hathaway and wins by decision
In the clash of generations, the veteran Mike pyle got the better of the young revelation John Hathaway. Pyle put his takedown game into practice from the beginning of the fight and completely nullified the English fighter. In the second round, after once again taking the fight to the ground, the North American managed to trap John's arm and use his legs to lock his opponent's neck, where he remained for more than two minutes working with punches from above. In the last and decisive round, history repeated itself and Mike prevailed, winning the unanimous decision of the judges (30-27 30-27 30-27)


Travis Browne and Cheick Kongo are tied

Hawaiian Travis Browne started the fight against Cheick Kongo moving a lot, using high kicks and good punch combinations to attack the Frenchman, who dodged well, but was unable to counterattack. In the second round, Browne was already showing some fatigue and Kongo found the combat distance better and, using his good boxing, landed more blows in his striking. With each fighter winning a round, the third round would decide the winner of the duel. However, the pace of the fight dropped considerably, as the athletes were already showing a lot of fatigue. With three minutes left in the fight, the referee deducted a point from Cheick Kongo who insistently held Travis Browne's shorts in the clinch. Knowing that he needed to attack the Frenchman, he connected good punches, but without continuity and was still taken down in the last seconds of the fight. In the end, the three referees scored 28×28, declaring a draw.

Claude Patrick dominates James Wilks and wins by decision

In the first fight on the main card, Canadian Claude Patrick dominated Englishman James Wilks throughout the duel. Showing good variety in his ground game, Patrick took the fight to the ground at the beginning of the first round and worked on guard passing and strong punches from above. The formula was repeated in the following rounds, where Claude again looked for the clinch to take down and work on top. In the end, the three side judges scored 30×27 for Claude Patrick

Spartan is finished


The second Brazilian to enter the octagon, Vinicius “Spartan” also made his debut at the most famous event in the world. Facing Englishman Rob Broughton, the Chute Boxe heavyweight started the fight well, landing the best blows in the stand-up fight and dominating the fight on the ground, controlling the half guard and dominating his opponent's back. In the last round, the Tupiniquim athlete again went for the takedown, but ended up caught in a guillotine. He still managed to defend himself, however, Broughton secured a fair rear-naked choke.

Maldonado debuts with victory in the UFC
The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon, Fábio Maldonado debuted on the right foot in the UFC. Facing James McSweeney, the Brazilian athlete started the fight at a disadvantage against the English fighter, who worked with good knees. However, in the last round, Maldonado showed his sharp boxing and punished McSweeney standing up, James went to the ground and the Brazilian finished the punishment with ground and pound until the referee ended the fight.
