Jon Jones announces return to activities and increases expectations about his first title defense

North American has been inactive since injuring his shoulder during training in 2023; 'Bones' is the current linear heavyweight champion

Inactive since suffering a serious shoulder injury, Jon Jones claims to be preparing to return to the octagon and perform his first heavyweight title defense (up to 120,2kg). In a publication published in your Instagram, the North American generated great expectations among his fans when he revealed a photo in the gym alongside his training partners.

“First day back to the gym since my injury. I felt very good. And so it began”, published 'Bones' on his social network.

In response, the champion's followers expressed enthusiasm about the fighter's possible return to the octagon.

“Dad is home,” said one fan.

Away since 2023, Jon Jones last performed when he defeated Cyryl Gane and won the heavyweight title after three years of inactivity. At the time of the injury, the athlete was preparing to defend his title against Stipe Miocic No. UFC 295. The confrontation ended up being cancelled, but Dana White is still interested in putting the fighters to face each other.

The expectation is that Tom aspinall, current interim champion, will face the winner between Jones and Miocic, to unify the belt in the category. So far, Dana White has not commented on the ideal date for the MMA legend's fight.
